Definition
Management review is the review of the management system by top management at planned intervals to ensure continuing suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness, and to align with strategic direction.
It is a leadership activity, not a routine operational standup renamed.
Inputs and outputs
Inputs typically include audit results, performance data, interested-party feedback, nonconformities, changes, and improvement opportunities — per the applicable standard. Outputs include decisions on improvement, resource needs, and system changes.
Retain documented information as evidence of reviews.
Audit readiness
Missing or superficial management reviews are frequent Stage 1 findings. Ensure reviews happen before certification Stage 2 and that actions are followed up.
