ISO Auditing Resources

Educational guides and links for audit types, preparation, findings, and corrective action. Beyond Carbon provides consultancy and audit-preparation support. An independent certification body performs certification audits and issues certificates. Beyond Carbon does not issue ISO certificates.

Correction vs corrective action

Correction: Correction addresses an identified issue (containment/fix) — e.g. replace a defective part or update an obsolete document in use.

Corrective action: Corrective action addresses the cause of a nonconformity to reduce the likelihood of recurrence — e.g. redesign a control, retrain with effectiveness check, or change a process.

  • Manufacturing: correction — Segregate and rework nonconforming product; corrective action — Fix the process parameter control that allowed the defect
  • Construction: correction — Stop unsafe work and make the area safe; corrective action — Improve permit/induction control that allowed the condition
  • SaaS: correction — Revoke an inappropriate access right; corrective action — Improve joiner/mover/leaver controls and monitoring
